ABOUT ANONYMOUS THEATRE
The play is cast in secret. Actors do not know who else is in the show and they keep their participation in the event a secret. Cast members rehearse individually and do not learn the identity of the other cast members until they reveal themselves on the night of the performance when they make their first entrance. The audience and actors experience the story together as if it is happening for the first time... because it actually is happening for the first time.
ABOUT THE TOXIC AVENGER
Melvin wants to clean up the most polluted town in New Jersey. But when the mayor's bullies dump him into a vat of radioactive toxic waste, he reemerges as The Toxic Avenger. Now, with superhuman strength and a heart as big as Newark, he's out to save New Jersey, end global warming, and find love.
The Toxic Avenger is a charming, irreverent, hilarious love story with an unlikely hero, an aspiring author, a corrupt New Jersey mayor, bullies, mobsters, professors, folk singers, and more. Featuring a wailin' rock score, this comical musical has something for everyone to enjoy.
AUDITION PREPARATION
Sides: You will receive a link to a folder of sides. Please prepare at least one side of your choice. Please do read through all of the sides to get a sense of the show, and be open to read additional sides, time permitting.
Music: Please prepare 16-32 bars (between 30-60 seconds; we aren’t counting measures) of a character song and bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be present. A rock musical song in the style of the show is preferred. A song from the show is not necessary, but is welcome.
This is a broad comedy that will be performed in a large space. Big choices that lead with heart are encouraged!
