ABOUT ANONYMOUS THEATRE
Actors cast in Anonymous Theatre do not learn the identity of their castmates until they are onstage in front of the audience, and keep their participation in the event a secret. Actors rehearse one-on-one with the director, but do much of the preparation work on their own.
In URINETOWN, written by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann, a terrible water shortage has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amidst the people, a hero emerges and decides he has had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom.

All roles will be cast after the first round of auditions. There will not be callback auditions.
Auditioners will be called in for five minute slots, in which they will read from one audition side, sing 16 bars of a character song, and dance a combination that will be sent in advance via video. Audition sides and a dance video link will be sent within two weeks of the auditions.
- Sides: Please prepare one side of your choice. Please do read through all of the sides to get a sense of the show, and be prepared to read additional sides, time permitting. Access all show sides by clicking here.
- Music: Please prepare 16 bars of a character song (preferably *not* from Urinetown), and bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be present. Please also prepare the 16 bars (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Baritone) from Run, Freedom, Run. Access sheet music and vocal tracks by clicking here.
- Dance: Please prepare the 4 counts of 8 choreographed to "Cop Song." Access lyrics with choreography and various video tutorials by clicking here.
Note: We realize this is more than usually required for an initial audition. However, because of the Anonymous process, we can have no callbacks or dance calls. Also, because of the process, our cast will need to be able to learn harmonies and dances on their own. We appreciate your work and commitment!
We aim to have a diverse cast with a wide age range. Dance needs range from negligible to heavy. Equity and non-equity encouraged are to audition.
All roles are offered an honorarium ranging from $200 to $300 depending on size of role.
